Mumbai, Sep 20 (Cricket Galiyara) Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah on Monday announced that the BCCI will increase the match fees for domestic cricketers. Shah, who attended the BCCI Apex Council meet, also said that cricketers playing in the 2019/20 season will get an additional 50 per cent fee to make up for the deduction in the 2020/21 season. Women cricketers participating in Senior Women’s T20 in the 2020/21 season will also be eligible for 50 per cent match fee as compensation for a season lost due to the COVID-19 situation.
Till now senior male domestic cricketers used to earn Rs 35,000 per match day in either Ranji Trophy or Vijay Hazare Trophy. For the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he got 17 per match, 500 was paid. Reserve members in the team are paid half of the playing members’ fees. But with the revision of match fees, three categories of players have been created in senior men’s domestic cricket. Players playing 20 home matches will get Rs 40,000, players playing 21-40 home matches will get Rs 40,000 and players playing more than 40 home matches will get Rs 60,000. A total of 2127 home games will be played in different age groups in the men’s and women’s categories this season.
