After skipper Kieron Pollard smashed an unbeaten 51 off 25 balls with five sixes and two fours to take West Indies to 167/6, the Proteas relied on their trusted batsman Quinton de Kock. The West Indies all-rounder added two more wickets in his fourth over as South Africa could manage only 146/9 in their 20 overs.
Pollard scored 25 runs in the last over of South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada to take the hosts to the fighting total.
Pollard won the Player of the Match award. After the match Pollard said “I was happy to be there at the end to make an important contribution. I must appreciate Bravo’s effort with the ball as well, especially when he has faced a lot of unnecessary criticism with people saying that He is old now and he should take sanyasa.”
