Jasprit Bumrah on Monday became India’s fastest bowler to take 100 Test wickets, winning his 24th match, the fifth and final day of the fourth Test against England.
Bumrah overcame the famous Kapil Dev, who had taken 25 Tests to reach the 100-wicket mark in 1980. Bumrah reached a milestone when he cleansed Ollie Pope.
He started his first Test match against South Africa in Cape Town in January 2018 and has since become an integral part of the Indian team led by Virat Kohli.
Irfan Pathan took 28 tackles and Mohammad Shami 29 to reach their 100 wickets.
Bumrah is now on the 22nd position in the list of India’s highest wicket-takers in Tests matches, the list being led by spin legend Anil Kumble (619 wickets).
